DOZENS of key workers have unlocked a move to a new home for less as the Edenstone Group thanks those who’ve helped the communities it builds in.
Key workers across South Wales and the South West of England have saved an average of £14,000 each off the price of a brand new home by taking up the offer of a 5% discount from the homebuilder.
The Edenstone Group, based in Magor, introduced the scheme as a way of honouring those who have provided essential services during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Group is currently building and selling homes at St Mary’s Garden Village in Ross on Wye; River View Garden Village in Lydney and Parc Ceirw Garden Village in Morriston.
Edenstone Group sales director Adele McCoy explained: “The pandemic has made us all much more aware and appreciative of those who help look after the nation. The introduction of a key worker discount was our way giving back and thanking them for their hard work and dedication.
“The scheme has been extremely popular across all of our developments. Sales of homes to key workers account for almost half of our sales revenue in the last six months. We’ve helped dozens of key workers purchase a new home for less with the incentive. The average saving amounts to £14,000 per purchaser.
“The discount is available to all key workers as defined by the government. Among those who’ve used the scheme are a paramedic in Lydney, an energy sector worker in Ross on Wye and a surgeon in Morriston.”
The key worker discount is available on selected properties until December 31, 2020.
Sectors eligible for the scheme include health and social care; education and childcare; key public services; local and national government; food and other necessary goods; public safety and national security; transport; utilities, communication and financial services
Key workers buying a new home from the Edenstone Group can choose if they want to accept the 5% discount or combine a smaller discount with upgrades to their new home, such as flooring or landscaped gardens.
In addition to the key worker discount, the Edenstone Group is also supporting communities by providing facilities including play areas, cycle hire, allotments and community hubs as part of its new homes developments.
The Group also donates a proportion of the proceeds of every home it sells to the Edenstone Foundation to support good causes.
